Cliveden Gardens: Where History Meets Nature's Splendor 

Cliveden House is a magnificent stately home situated on a sprawling 376-acre estate that offers stunning views of the River Thames and the beautiful surrounding countryside. Built in the 1850s by Charles Barry for the Dukes of Buckinghamshire, the house is designed in the style of an Italian Renaissance Palace and boasts a rich history that has seen it being home to many prominent figures throughout the centuries.

Cliveden's impressive gardens and majestic woodlands capture the grandeur of a bygone age, with formal gardens, woodland and water-gardens interspersed with fine garden statues. The estate runs down the edge of the Thames, offering visitors breathtaking views across the countryside.

During the early 20th century, Cliveden became a hub for high society and politics. The house was the home of Nancy Astor, the first woman to sit in the British Parliament, and was frequently visited by notable figures such as Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Beatles band and George Bernard Shaw. Meghan Markle even stayed at Cliveden House the night before her wedding with Prince Harry.

While the house is used as a hotel, the grounds are open to the public and offer spectacular views across the countryside. The stately home is elegant, especially when viewed from the parterre, and the entire place is steeped in history. The gardens at Cliveden are magnificent, particularly the Long Garden and the Rose Garden, making it an ideal place for a leisurely walk.

Windsor Castle, located in Windsor, Berkshire, is a must-see destination for anyone visiting the United Kingdom, boasting a rich history, stunning architecture, and an extensive collection of art and artifacts. As one of the oldest and largest inhabited castles in the world, it covers an area of approximately 13 hectares. With nearly 1,000 years of history, Windsor Castle is one of England's most impressive and significant historical sites, having been built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror . Its numerous renovations and expansions throughout the years reflect the changing times and tastes of the monarchs who lived there.  It has served as the official residence of monarchs such as VIII. Henry, Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria, and II. Queen Elizabeth.

The castle houses a vast collection of art and historical artifacts, including paintings, sculptures, armor, and furniture, many of which are displayed in the State Apartments, which are open to the public.

 

In addition, St. George's Chapel, located on the castle grounds, is one of the most beautiful and significant church buildings in England. The chapel serves as the final resting place for ten rulers, including VIII. Henry and his third wife, Jane Seymour, and In September 2022, Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh were also laid to rest here.. St. George's Chapel holds great importance for the royal family, as it was the site of Prince Harry's baptism, the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla, and the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Visitors can also witness the changing of the guard, a tradition that dates back to the 17th century and still takes place regularly in the castle and in front of the castle. This ceremonial event is a true spectacle, with soldiers dressed in full regalia marching to the beat of a drum.

During your visit, you can enjoy a 2 hours visit to Windsor Castle, immersing yourself in the fascinating history and opulence of the British royal family. After visiting the castle, we will go to the Cliveden ,where you can spend 2 hours in the elegant and magnificent environment of Cliveden's gardens. During the tour, you will see the huge estate with its wonderful house and breathtaking views of the River Thames and the surrounding woods. We do not go inside the house, we can only admire this beautiful English country house from the outside. However, we can go up to the high terrace of the house, where the landscape unfolds before us like a painting, offering a wonderful and opulent view. We'll then continue to explore the gardens, which are home to a wide range of beautiful features and attractions. The Parterre is a particularly large and impressive part of the garden, but you'll also have the opportunity to visit the Rose Garden, Japanese Water Garden, Long Garden, Sculpture Garden, Maze, and Woods.
As you explore the landscaped gardens and beautiful flowers, you'll be able to soak up the rich history of the past. After taking in the sights, you can relax in the tea house where you can enjoy delicious coffee, cakes, and scones.

Windsor Castle is open to the public year-round, and visitors can purchase tickets online or at the castle's ticket office. Audio guides are available in multiple languages, providing visitors with an immersive and informative experience as they explore the castle's many wonders.
