It is a well-known tourist destination and is particularly famous for the Henley Royal Regatta, one of the world's most prestigious rowing events, which takes place annually in July.
The main street has many Georgian frontages covering older buildings and among the 300 buildings within the town designated 'of special architectural or historical interest' are St Mary's church, the town hall, market place and Henley Bridge.
 

The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside, including the Chiltern Hills, which provide stunning views of the surrounding area. Henley-on-Thames also boasts a vibrant food and drink scene, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars offering a range of cuisines and beverages. Another sight to see near the town of Henley-on-Thames is Marsh Lock, a lock located on the River Thames. Built in 1773, Marsh Lock is one of the oldest locks on the Thames. It was designed by the famous engineer John Smeaton, who also designed the third Eddystone Lighthouse.

Outside, the park surrounding the house is simply breathtaking, with stunning views of the valley that stretch out as far as the eye can see. As you wander through the various gardens, you will be surrounded by the beauty of nature, with roses, mixed flowers, fruit trees, and vegetables all thriving in their respective spaces.

One of the most striking features of Grays Court is the Great Tower, whose walls date back to the late 12th century. This magnificent structure is a testament to the castle that once stood on the site, and it adds to the sense of history and grandeur that permeates throughout the property. Another highlight of the visit is the Tudor donkey wheel, a fascinating piece of machinery that was used to draw water from the well.

As we make our way to Marsh Lock, you will be treated to a view of the moored boats along the riverbank, adding to the picturesque scenery of the area. At Marsh Lock, you can observe boats passing through the lock gates and stroll on the wooden bridge that spans the middle of the river.
