Polesden Lacey is fascinating and a beautiful country house that offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the English elite in the early 20th century.

The property is set within 1,400 acres of beautiful countryside, and it is surrounded by picturesque gardens and rolling hills. The house itself was originally built in the 18th century as a hunting lodge, but it was extensively remodeled in the early 20th century by the wealthy socialite, Mrs. Margaret Greville. Mrs. Greville was a famous society hostess and entertainer, and she spared no expense in transforming the house into a luxurious residence fit for entertaining the elite of English society. Polesden Lacey is also famous for its association with the British royal family. Mrs. Greville was a close friend of King Edward VII, and she entertained many members of the royal family at the house over the years. In 1923, the future King George and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, spent the initial phase of their honeymoon at this location. The interiors of Polesden Lacey are truly stunning, with lavish furnishings, grand staircases, and ornate decorations. Visitors can explore the many rooms and galleries of the house, including the grand dining room, the elegant drawing room, and the opulent gold room. One of the highlights of Polesden Lacey is its beautiful gardens. The property boasts a series of formal gardens, including a rose garden, a walled garden, and a Dutch garden. There are also extensive parklands surrounding the house, which provide plenty of opportunities for walking and exploring the beautiful countryside.

During your visit, you can enjoy a 2 hours visit to Polesden Lacey. You will see impressive, homely furnished drawing rooms with antique furniture and artefacts, a library, and painting collections. The highlight of the house is the golden drawing room, where Margaret Greville gave fantastic parties to the guests of the English elite.
